How’s DeACT different to other UVC sterilisers?
It uses the most advanced, most powerful UVC LED. DeACT is typical about 7 times more powerful than comparable handheld UVC sterilizer available anywhere in the world.
Can it really kill germs and viruses in under 5 seconds?
Yes, the effectiveness of DeACT is lab tested by SGS (sgs.com), the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. They are recognised as the global benchmark for quality and integrity.
Can it really kill Coronavirus?
Yes, it was a question of how long it takes. DeACT was lab tested by SGS (sgs.com) on Infectious bronchitis Virus (IBV), a form of Coronavirus. The result was less than 3 seconds.
How does UVC kill germs and viruses?
The method used is known as Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation. It deactivates microorganisms by disabling their DNA, RNA and protein. It is the equivalent of killing the micro-organism in simple terms.
Why is it so big?
DeACT is designed first and foremost to be a steriliser. Our priority was to make it as effective as possible. But it also has to be user-friendly, so we configured the UVC light to have a large footprint so that a large surface can be sterilised reasonably quickly.
Why is it expensive?
DeACT is a piece of equipment, not a consumable. It has a rechargeable battery so there will not be any accumulative costs. It could possibly be more cost-effective over a period of years. On top of which, it has the added advantage of being non-toxic.
Other sterilisers claim a lifespan of 10,000 hours or more, why has DeACT’s UVC LED only 2,000 hours?
The lifespan of LED is measured by lumen maintenance. It is an approach of measuring light output (lumen) of a brand new LED and comparing its light output after a certain period of time. The end of life for LED luminaires, where the light output may continuously fade or the colour may slowly shift to the point where low light output or an unacceptably large color change constitutes practical failure.
UVC LED built-in to DeACT has a lumen maintenance L90 of 2,500 hours, i.e. they would still produce 90% of the initial light output after it has been used for 2,500 hours. We chose 2,000 hours to make sure that DeACT is operated at its optimal sterilisation effectiveness.
UVC LED built-in to DeACT has Lumen Maintenance L90 of 2,500 hour, L75 of 10,000 hours, and L50 of 25,000 hours.
